Lt.  Matt Concialdi

Matt joins the FFFD as the EMS Training Lieutenant and brings with him many years of medical experience. Before joining the District, Matt worked at Platteville-Gilcrest Fire as the Division Chief of EMS and Emergency Management/PIO. Before joining Platteville-Gilcrest, Matt worked as a Paramedic at Rural Metro/AMR and Stadium Medical in Aurora, Wheatridge, Edgewater, Fairmont, and Golden.

Matt is excited to join FFFD due to its great culture, including positive attitudes, good skills, and a focus on growth and excellence. Matt also appreciates the defined roles and functions, organization in functionality, and strategic decision making.

Matt and his wife, Erin, have 4.5-year-old twins Joshua and Luciana, as well as their German Shepard Mix dog, Duchess.

When not working, Matt enjoys photography, home projects, scuba diving, biking, snowshoeing, and other exciting hobbies such as chip-and-dip, working out, and napping. Matt spends a lot of time with these toddlers/preschoolers reading, hosting extensive Q&A sessions, and even practicing in wrestling matches.

If you see Matt outside of work, you may encounter him in a Hawaiian shirt (they are his jam), and he operates on island time and style.

Joe is excited to work at FFFD because it feels like a close-knit team where everyone is friendly and supportive. Joe enjoys the positive atmosphere and sense of community at the District. He is looking forward to having the chance to keep learning and growing in his role as a Fire Prevention Specialist. Joe also continues to work toward his Fire Science Degree.

AA Katie Felix

Administrative Assistant Katie Felix comes to Frederick-Firestone Fire with previous experience as an office manager at EarthRoamer and several years as a stay-at-home parent. Katie studied wellness program management and recreation at Graceland University in Iowa.

Katie is excited to join FFFD, having grown up with family members in the fire service and with her husband, Jeremy, who currently works at Boulder Fire. For Katie, the fire service has always been a part of her life, and she is honored to now be a part of it in her own way. Working at FFFD holds special meaning for Katie; she is not only a resident of the District, but she also takes great pride in supporting the people and the organization that help keep her and her neighbors safe.

Katie is proud to say she is a Colorado native and currently lives in Frederick with her husband and their two boys. Katie, along with her family, loves exploring everything Colorado has to offer and spending time with their nearby family. Their Doberman, Kaiser, is always part of the fun, too.

Phil McKenzie - Digital Media Specialist
DMS Phil McKenzie

Digital Media Specialist Phil McKenzie grew up in Arvada and spent most of his adult life in Boulder before moving to Denver’s Capitol Hill neighborhood last summer, where he currently lives. Before joining the Frederick-Firestone Fire District, Phil spent five (5) years working as a freelance photographer, specializing in action sports and lifestyle imagery. His favorite subjects include skateboarding, snowboarding, and live music. Over the years, his work has been featured by brands such as Thrasher Magazine, Burton Snowboards, Arc’teryx, and Copper Mountain, among others.

Phil is excited to bring his background in capturing fast-paced action to the fire service, using his photography and videography skills to tell the story of the district’s people and mission. In his role, he oversees the district website and creates visual content that highlights work done on scene, in training, and throughout the community. His goal is to help further educational initiatives, strengthen community connections, and support funding efforts through authentic visual storytelling.

Phil is inspired by the opportunity to use his creative experience for something larger than a brand campaign and to collaborate with a team of first responders who are passionate about their work.

Outside of work, Phil enjoys bikepacking, backcountry snowboarding, skateboarding, road trips, cooking, and relaxing in natural hot springs. He also enjoys hitting golf balls at the driving range, mostly because he’s terrible at actual golf. His family is spread across the West: his mom lives on the Oregon coast, his dad is in South Denver, and his younger brother lives in Anchorage, Alaska. Phil also shares his home with his gray tabby cat, Petunia.
