Child and Babysitting Safety Class

For ages 12 to 17

Frederick Firestone Fire District offers the Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program to help teens and young adults build the knowledge and confidence needed to become safe, responsible, and successful babysitters. This class is designed for both brand new babysitters and those who want to strengthen their childcare skills before taking on regular jobs in the community.

Future class dates are currently to be determined. Families and students who are interested in attending a future session are encouraged to contact Sasha Story for upcoming schedules and registration information.

What Students Learn

The business of babysitting

Professional communication, expectations, responsibilities, and how to present yourself to families.

Safety awareness
Understanding age appropriate activities, preventing common injuries, identifying hazards, and staying aware in home environments.

CPR, AED, and First Aid overview
Foundational knowledge that helps students recognize emergencies and take appropriate action. This portion is informational and non certified but provides essential awareness and preparedness.

Babysitting Orientation Form

This detailed form helps families share important information with their babysitter. It covers communication preferences, household rules, safety expectations, food instructions, diapering and bathroom details, play guidelines, cleanup instructions, behavior strategies, medical information, and what to do if something goes wrong.

On The Job Information Form

This worksheet is designed for babysitters to fill out at the start of each babysitting job. It collects critical information such as parent contact details, where the parents will be, expected return time, emergency contacts, medical considerations, and changes since the last visit. It also includes a parental consent section for emergency care if needed.

Babysitter Information Sheet

A personal information sheet for babysitters to share with families. It includes contact information, relevant medical details, who to call if the babysitter becomes sick while on duty, and a space to list their babysitting rate. This helps families keep important information accessible and organized.
