May Training

Firefighters are actively rescuing someone from a smoke-filled room, showcasing quick action and teamwork.

Earlier this month, Frederick-Firestone Fire District crews joined together with Platteville Gilcrest Fire Protection District for a live fire training exercise.

Held at the Platteville Gilcrest Fire Training Facility, the training scenario imulated a mayday incident inside a working structure fire, requiring crews to rescue a downed firefighter while continuing fire suppression efforts and providing emergency medical care.

Joint trainings like this help strengthen coordination between neighboring departments and ensure firefighters are prepared to respond effectively during real emergencies.

National EMS Week

May 17th - 23rd

Frederick-Firestone Fire District spent National EMS Week highlighting the extensive training, teamwork, and compassion demonstrated by our dedicated firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics who serve the community 24/7 through advanced medical care and emergency response services. EMS Week served as a reminder of the district’s ongoing commitment to patient care, safety, continuing education, and rapid response in helping protect the health and well-being of the Frederick and Firestone communities.

EMS Education Day

Emergency responders practice medical procedures on a training mannequin at a table filled with supplies and equipment.

Education is one of the most important tools in emergency response. During EMS Week, crews and staff partnered with six local schools to share a short, child-friendly 911 lesson with first grade classrooms across our district. Students watched an educational video, talked about emergency situations, and completed coloring sheets to help reinforce what they learned.

In total, 20 first grade classrooms and 368 students participated in this year’s EMS Education Day outreach. Helping kids feel confident and prepared during an emergency is a small lesson that can make a big difference.

EMS for Children Day

Frederick-Firestone Fire District wants to express our gratitude to everyone who participated in our Chick-fil-A fundraiser benefiting Colorado EMS for Children (EMSC) on May 12th.

Thanks to our community and a generous donation from Chick-fil-A, we were able to support EMSC's pediatric simulation program and help improve pediatric emergency care across Colorado.

Donated funds will help support EMSC’s state-of-the-art mobile simulation lab featuring high-fidelity pediatric mannequins that allow EMS providers to train for real-world emergencies involving children. These hands-on training opportunities help first responders build confidence and improve outcomes when caring for pediatric patients.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by, donated, and helped support better emergency care for children in our communities!

2026 Colorado Fallen Firefighters Memorial Remembrance Ceremony

On Saturday, May 16th, members of our Honor Guard and Frederick-Firestone Fire District crews attended the Colorado Fallen Firefighters Memorial ceremony as Community Risk Reduction Specialist Kristen Hayes’ name was formally added to the memorial wall.

A group of firefighters and a woman stand by a memorial honoring Colorado's fallen firefighters, surrounded by greenery.

Kristen’s compassion, dedication, and commitment to serving others left a lasting impact on our district and the community she cared so deeply for. While one year has passed since her loss, her legacy continues to live on through the relationships she built, the lives she touched, and the work she inspired.

We remain honored to remember Kristen alongside firefighters and EMS professionals from across Colorado who gave so much in service to others. Our thoughts continue to be with her family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of serving beside her.
