Crews Recognized for Ice Rescue of Woman, Dog

B-Shift Crews Recognized for Ice Rescue of Woman, Dog at Milevec Lake in Frederick

On December 22, 2020, crews responded to Milavec Lake at Frederick Recreation Area to respond to a call about a woman and her dog who had fallen through the ice and into the water. The District responded and rescued the woman and her dog within 17 minutes of receiving the 911 call from Weld County Dispatch. Frederick Police Department’s Sergeant Jared Bakes and Officer Ed Goodman also responded to the Milavec Lake rescue. They gave a brief statement honoring the crew for their work. Fire Chief Young presented the following awards to Frederick-Firestone Fire Protection District employees: Medals of Valor were given to FF Jeff Kesler and FF Michael Miller; Meritorious Service Awards were given to Lt. Todd Simpson, FF Mario Hernandez-Cabral, and FF Chase Baldino; Unit Commendations were given to Battalion Chief Michael Reasoner, Lt. Garrett Timm, FF Kyle Sanchez, and FF Mark Stetzer.
