On Saturday, Dec. 14, 2019, the Frederick-Firestone Fire District not only recognized all employees for their work throughout the year but went beyond that and gave plaques and awards for years of service, fire and emergency medical training, exemplary service, and employee of the year.
“It was an honor and privilege to show our appreciation to all our members and their significant others at our annual Christmas dinner and to award so many deserving individuals for their accomplishments in 2019. These men and women serve our community day and night without question or complaint, I wish we could do so much more for them,” said Fire Chief Jeremy A. Young.
The 2019 Employee of the Year, which is nominated and elected by District personnel, was Captain Ryan Baxley who has been with the Fire District since 2002. Capt. Baxley was nominated for his work with his fellow firefighters and for his leadership throughout the years.
Years of service plaques focused on employees who have been with the District for five (5), 10, and 15 years. Five-year plaques went to Paramedic/Firefighter Stacy Flaherty, EMT/Firefighter Peter Hartman, EMT/Firefighter Jeff Kesler, Training Captain Josh Venerable, and Board Director Butch Walb. Those recognized for 10 year of service were Paramedic/Firefighter Chandler Martinez and Paramedic/Firefighter Evin Feit. Last, was Lt. Jon Garand and Lt. Chad Holliman who both have been with the District for 15 years.
During the evening Chief Young also recognized Assistant Chief of Planning Steve Iacino and Community Outreach Specialist Summer Campos for their exemplary work throughout 2019. As well as the Local 4123 board members, which included Lt. Matt Zaffree, Lt. Josh Williams, EMT/Firefighter Adam Campbell, and Paramedic/Firefighter Chandler Martinez.
