In
the fall of 2007, the District’s Grant Committee
gathered to discuss several different alternative
funding strategies to offset the cost of purchasing a fire
engine needed to maintain service levels in the newly
added Station 3 area and in other newly added
properties. A decision was made to apply for a grant
through the Energy and Mineral Impact Assistance Fund.
In
the spring of 2008, the Frederick Firestone Fire
Protection District had received formal notification
from the Department of Local Affairs that our special
project was awarded funding in the amount of
$227,000.00. This was a 50% funding arrangement whereby
the grant funded half of the overall costs of the engine
up to $227,000.00. The District took delivery of the new
fire engine purchased locally from Front Range Fire
Apparatus in
Frederick
in the spring of 2009.
